Ever wonder who searches for the term “ice cream” more in the United States? It’s Bostonians. (Incidentally, Singapore is #2 behind the USA internationally… go figure). Or, maybe you’re more interested in knowing what term was searched for the most on a given day? (Today it was “tiger woods masters” followed by “st. patrick’s day.”
One of the most interesting tools in the Google cache of sweetness is “Google Trends.” With data going back to 2004, Google Trends allows the public to see how often a particular search-term is entered relative to the total search-volume across various regions of the world.
In 2008, Google added Insights for Search, which is an extension of Google Trends that provides more specific data and more defined parsing of search trends.
Recently, Google added Hot Trends followed by Hot Topics, which display the top 20 most popular search terms of the past hours within the United States and are updated on an hourly basis.
